ESIC Contribution Calculator

Work out the employee and employer ESIC contributions on a month of wages, and whether the wages are within the ceiling for coverage.

Enter the wages for the month to see the contributions.

How it is calculated

  1. Employee share = monthly wages × 0.75%.
  2. Employer share = monthly wages × 3.25%.
  3. An employee whose monthly wages are above ₹21,000 is not covered, so no contribution is due for them.

Example. Monthly wages of ₹20,000 give an employee share of ₹150, an employer share of ₹650 and ₹800 in all. Wages of ₹22,000 are above the ceiling, so the employee is not covered.

Frequently asked questions

What are the ESIC contribution rates?

The employee pays 0.75% of wages and the employer pays 3.25%, 4% in all, on the wages of employees who are covered.

Who is covered?

Employees whose wages are ₹21,000 a month or less. A higher ceiling applies for persons with disabilities, which this calculator does not apply.

Is there an exemption for very low wages?

Employees whose average daily wage is ₹176 or less do not pay their own share, and the employer still pays its share. This calculator does not apply that exemption.

Which wages do I enter?

The wages for the month as defined for ESIC. The definition of wages has been changing with the labour codes, so use the figure your payroll adviser gives you for ESIC.
